Final Project: Emotion
In this class we approached learning photography on two fronts: the technical side and the creative side. We learned of the technical operation of the camera, the complexity of light, and of the manipulation of images with Photoshop. We have learned of the creation of better images through the implementation of the guidelines of composition, and have strengthened our ability to see and think abstractly.
We have also discussed many images in class and at times have come across an image that provokes a clear emotion or mood. How does an image communicate an emotion or mood? You will answer this question with the presentation of one photograph – several if you would like. Although you may only be presenting one photograph (no proof sheet required) you will find that you will need to take many images to produce one outstanding image. Do not present an image I have already seen or discussed nor an image you have previously shot.
An emotion from the primary emotion column below will be assigned to you. It is your assignment to photograph and present an image that evokes that mood. Do not simply photograph the emotion or mood being experienced. I.e. For Sadness don’t simply photography a little boy crying or a man with a gun to his head about to commit suicide. Instead find or formulate an image that evokes the feelings of the crying boy or the suicidal man.
What emotions do these images evoke? Why?
This project is quite challenging and will require a lot of thought and time.
You will also be turning in a proof sheet of all your images.
